Mix Tapes and Mentors

Mix Tape, like most people, liked to think for himself. He could say movies were his mentor because he watched movies about adventure and exploring. He learned about cars from racing movies, history, and music. 

There were only so many places to explore in Schuyler. The suburban town had houses and some stores. The town didn't have expansive buildings to explore or clubs. There were open fields. He rode his bike, but he couldn’t ride to a far distance. 

Movies showed him a bigger world than this little town. 

Mix never really paid attention to teachers at school. Miss White had his attention, but that was because she was hot. Most teachers wrote off Mix so they could devote attention to the guys that other people determined were better than him. Every jock was naturally a better student. Mrs. White got him out of danger when the school furnace exploded (Mix Tapes and Stolen Tests). He never thought a mentor could be a high school teacher. Teachers just gave homework and talked. When he looked back on it, Mrs. White brought out the best in Mix. Mrs White could’ve been Mix’s mentor.
