An Entire Career in the American Leagues

The 1949 Yankees has stars like DiMaggio, but it has plenty of support players. Even though stars you don't remember had solid careers.

Eddie Lopat was a solid pitcher whose career wasn't just 1949.

Eddie Lopat joined the Chicago White Sox in 1944. He would play there till 1947. He joined the Yankees the following year.

He was part of the winning years of Casey Stengel from 1948 to 1955. He ended his playing years in 1955 in Baltimore.

Lopat's playing record was 166 wins and 112 losses.

He didn't walk away from baseball. Eddie Lopat became a coach, manager, front office executive and scout. As a manager, his record was 90 wins and 124 losses.

His entire career was in the American League. That's not common in a game where players are traded between leagues.
