Joe Page outshined them all

The 1949 Yankees surprised the baseball fans by getting to the World Series and then winning against really top notch teams. Managed by the incredible Casey Stengel, and with players like Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, and Yogi Berra, all who had Hall of Fame careers.

Who was the big player that year?

Joe Page.

Of all that talent, the 1949 MVP was pitcher Joe Page.

Sadly getting information about him wasn't easy. Here's what I found.

Page's career started with the Yankees in 1944. His career was 8 years, but he played in 3 All-Star games. He played with the Yankees 1944 to 1950.

His time as a star pitcher was too good to stop so 1954, he made a comeback as pitcher for Pittsburgh.

Pages overall career record was 57 wins and 49 losses.
