Todd Strasser-Keeps on Writing

I saw the book “Price of Duty” in the library. The cover showed an older teen draped in a US flag in front of a white background. The back cover said this was a book about the military and disillusionment with the military. It had my interest. The writer, Todd Strasser, was someone I hadn’t heard of. I could give a new author a chance.

I was wrong about Todd Strasser being a new author.

Strasser had been writing for decades. He is a big name in YA book publishing. He writes humor and serious teen issue books. He is credited with the book, “The Wave.” I remember that movie when I was young. I knew Todd Strasser! The truth was Strasser wrote the novelization of the tv movie, so I didn’t know Strasser’s work after all.

“The Good War” was a teen book that gets into hate, racism, and violence. It’s about videogames and videogame designers but it gets into it.

Through social media I found Strasser’s book “Summer of 69.” That was a different take on the view of the military and teen years. There are several episodes of travel adventure in the book. Reviews on-line.

There was a small used book sale and I found a couple of Strasser’s YA books. He did a series of “I was trapped in someone’s body” books. Another big change from prior works that I read.

Todd Strasser wrote quirky children’s books, YA, and articles. He has a little something for everyone.
