Will You Go back to the Movie Theater?

During the pandemic I listened to the Cracked podcast. They did a show on things lost in 2020 that didn’t need to come back. Most of those things did come back. There is in-person voting. People are going back to offices. One such thing they said didn’t need to come back was the movie theater. The reasoning was that people watch movies on their phones or tablets. They don’t need the full theater effect. I saw “Joker” on my tablet while waiting for car repairs. I enjoyed the movie. Earphones were fine for sound. On the other way, I saw non-Academy award winning movie, “Hangover” the same way. There was no way I would spend theater movie for that.

Do you really lose much on a smaller screen? Many would say no.

I have seen every James Bond movie in the theater since “Licence to Kill.” This year, I waited for streaming for “No Time to Die.” That movie ran almost three hours. At home, I took bathroom breaks, rewatched scenes, and enjoyed the movie more than I would’ve in the theater. Before you say anything, enjoy is being nice. The movie had a lot of issues and a terrible theme song.

It seems that the Cracked podcast may be wrong. People are going back to theaters. Maybe it’s the spectacle.  Maybe it’s the crowds.

Are you going back to a movie theater now?
