No one heard of Meat Beat Manifesto except those that started bands like this
This is one of those bands that people heard of but didn’t hear until they were around for years. They formed in 1987 and naturally radio didn’t play them. They were a rocking EDM band and that just confuses the radio programmers. Are they dance? Are they alternative? Are they rock? What kind of name is this?
I heard of them, but didn’t hear them till 1995 when I saw them live. They played this music festival called the ENIT festival organized by Perry Ferrell. The drummer was in front of the guitars. Who sets up a stage like that? The songs were fast and pulsing. Drums. Drum Machines. Drum Pads.
They were clearly ahead of their time. The songs had a EDM vibe. They used synth and machines years before Ministry and Nine Inch Nails would make rocking, songs that would become popular.
It makes you wonder about bands like this. They made several albums that apparently EDM bands and deejays bought but no one else. People bought the second generation bands that heard this band. Today there are a lot of albums to listen to. I hoped to have more insight into this band but there is a back catalogue to listen to.
