Verranzano Narrows Bridge Connecting Worlds
This is a beautiful bridge that connects Staten Island to Long Island. It’s so long and bright that you can see it from New Jersey. People believe the bridge to be so long that it has a curve in the middle to match the curve of the Earth.
The bridge was named after an explorer named Giovanni da Verrazano, who lived from 1485 to 1528.
I did research on him, but you could find that on the web. What Mix saw when he rode his bike at night was a large glowing bridge. The illuminated suspension cables show the length of the bridge. Staten Island would appear dark with hints of street lights so the bridge above it all rose out of the dark in the air. Long bright strands of light stretching into the night. Those lights reflect off the water.
Bridges have beginnings and ends, but a long lit up bridge just reaches into the dark into a different place.
Connections.
Reaching over the divide created by the water. Thousands of people drive that bridge everyday.
Congestion.
Once upon a time those drivers wouldn’t be able have a job in a different borough, today it’s taken for granted.
