Mix Tape's History Remix

That Was the Same Guy part 2

in the movie Animal House, Bluto is about to get beat up. To get away, he creates a diversion by yelling, "food fight." The song that comes on is "Lets Dance" by Chris Montez. In 1962, this was a number 4 song.

If you listen to 60s radio on satellite or MuchMusic on Tv, you'll still hear this song.According to his website, chrismontez.com, Chris Montez was raised in Hawthorne California. Even though this is the same area the Beach Boys are from, I don't see mention that they connected or knew each other. He hung around with a largely Hispanic crowd and that influenced most of his other music. For a one hit wonder, he scored a big one.

Turns out, he wasn't a one hit wonder.

People think "Call Me" was done by a woman. It was Montez. In 1966, he changed his music style and made two big comeback songs. "Call Me' and "The More I See You." The newly created adult contemporary genre had a star.

From the frenetic "Lets Dance" to the smooth yacht rock-esque, "The More I See You."

This was the same guy? It was!
