The Same Guy Part 5 Tony Burrows

Tony Burrows was one of the big stars of the early 1970s. He's still played on the 70s satellite radio and MuchMusic. Find a 70s compilation and he could be on it.

Never heard of him? He knows.

Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s bubblegum music was the biggest selling genre. This was an era of soul, rock, and psychedelia. All these genres were altered to create the new genre of bubblegum. It was the formula top 40 songs that kids and teen girls loved.

Whereas that sounds boring and irritating to listen to, it wasn't. The thing was that the music was supplied by talented writers like Boyce and Hart. The musicians that played on the records were seasoned sessions players. Because the writers created the bands not the bands were established bands, the bands had to be created. One hit wonder bands, Edison Lighthouse, White Plains and First Class were studio players.

We had talented writers, back up bands, we need a singer. Meet Tony Burrows.

He was a session backup singer that made a bunch of records, was paid a fee and went on his way. The songs were 70s best. All the following songs feature Tony Burrows.

Edison Lighthouse "Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes"

The Brotherhood of Man- United We Stand"

The White Plain "My Baby Loves Loving"

\One of my favorite summer songs is by a band called First Class- Beach Baby."

I just checked as I wrote this, "Tony Burrows Greatest Hits" is available on iTunes. It has all these songs for download.

So many classic songs and one hit wonders all had this one talented musician behind them.

Seriously, it was all the same guy!
