Who Will Bury Me Blog

Who Will bury Me When I Die?

This is a poem about the forgotten homeless.

Spent the year out on the curb
Clothes covered in mud and dirt
Beard so long it touches the ground
At night I wonder when no one's around
Who'll bury me when I die?

Had some friends awhile ago
How we lost touch, I don't know
Lost my money in stock, put my things in hock
Lost my livelihood and don't know why
Who'll bury me when I die?

People see me on the street
Some point some step over me
Some stop and stare, some don't care
No one knows my name, don't ask don't try
Who'll bury me when I die?

There's a cemetary down the road
Filled with homeless listed as John
Doe
When I'm there, there's something I know
There'll be no widow who'll cry
Who'll bury me when I die?
