Two Books Where Music Plays in the Background
This summer, I've been reading about bands and music history. I took a little break to read a little fiction. These are two books I recommend not as a music fan or for the history, but for the fun.
Kill The Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky

This is a very funny book. Apple’s infatuation with Rupert was endearing and funny. The lead character changing her name for every instance was fun because we had to place where she got the alias. I wasn’t sure what Rupert P would turn to, but he was not what expected. All the twists at the end weren’t forced for drama sake. It was the best ending for this quirky story. Even the bits of drama when Rupert knows that his fame won't last, didn't drag the story.
The Vinyl Detective - Written in Dead Wax- by Ben Aaronovitch
I liked the concept of this character because I love collecting music. So this book gives me a little vinyl record history, a lot of jazz, and a mystery to boot. Nevada’s story was foreshadowed but I was still surprised by it. Tinker was interesting to follow.
